Shadab Jakati’s Viral Video: When a “Joke” on His Own Daughter Becomes Child Sexualisation
December 2025 – A reel that was supposed to be “cute father-daughter comedy” has turned into one of the most disturbing controversies of the year.
Popular Instagram comedian Shadab Jakati posted a video with his little daughter (around 5-7 years old). The child looks at the camera and says something innocent. Shadab replies with a sleazy smile:
Within hours the internet exploded – not with laughter, but with pure outrage. Millions of parents, women, and child-rights activists called it out for exactly what it is: sexualisation of a minor, and that minor happens to be his own daughter.
Why This Is NOT a Joke – It’s a Clear POCSO Violation
The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 is crystal clear:
- Section 11 & 12: Sexual harassment includes any remark or gesture that creates a sexually coloured atmosphere for a child.
- Section 13 & 14: Using a child for pornographic purposes – even in “comedy” format – is punishable with up to 7 years in prison.
- Even if it’s your own child, you cannot sexualise them for likes and views.
By linking a little girl’s looks to “how hot her mother must be”, Shadab turned an innocent child into an object of adult gaze. That is textbook child sexualisation.
Normalising such “jokes” on social media is one of the reasons predators feel emboldened.
Double Standards We Can’t Ignore
When Shadab Jakati made wholesome family content, millions praised him as “best dad on Instagram”.
Now that he has crossed every red line, silence or “it’s just a joke” is not an option.
We celebrated his good content → we must condemn this dangerous content with the same energy.
What Parents & Netizens Are Saying
- “My blood boiled. My daughter is the same age. Would he say this if a stranger commented the same on his child?”
- “He literally used his daughter as clickbait for adult innuendo. Disgusting.”
- “Report the video + file complaint under POCSO. No mercy.”
Women creators, child psychologists, and even fellow comedians have condemned it. Many have reported the reel en masse – Instagram has already restricted it in India.
Legal Action Must Happen – No Excuses
Precedents exist:
- 2023: A South Indian YouTuber jailed for 3 years for similar “father-daughter” sexual jokes.
- 2024: Mumbai influencer lost brand deals worth ₹2 crore after a harmless-looking reel was found to violate POCSO guidelines.
Child rights groups have already announced they are filing FIRs in multiple states. Cyber cells are investigating.
What You Can Do Right Now
- Report the video on Instagram (Sexual content involving minor).
- Share this article – awareness is the first step.
- Teach your kids: No adult should ever talk about their body in a sexual way – even if it’s “just a joke”.
- Support creators who respect boundaries, boycott those who don’t.
A child’s innocence is not your content strategy.
A daughter is not your punchline.

Final Word
Shadab Jakati had the power to influence millions positively. Instead, he chose a cheap, vulgar “joke” at the cost of his own daughter’s dignity.
There is no “but it’s comedy”, no “cancel culture”, no “overreaction”.
There is only one correct response: strict legal action under POCSO and a public apology that actually means something.
Because if we let this slide today, tomorrow another creator will think it’s okay.
And no child – not even a celebrity’s child – deserves that.
